Your Senior Portraits are a representation of you, your personality and a very important chapter in your life - finishing high school! Let’s help you feel confident in choosing outfits that photograph well, look timeless and complement your own unique and individual style.
Most of our senior portrait guy clients book the MODERN session - which is an hour long photoshoot with two outfits. To make the most out of your senior portraits, we recommend choosing to wear one casual outfit that represents you, and one more polished or dressed up look. A button-down or collared shirt always look sharp - don't miss out on the opportunity to get a nice portrait / headshot that you can use on your LinkedIn and resume as you head off to college.
These are our top tips and advice for choosing what to wear for your Senior Portraits;

a Button down shirt
Choose a favorite button-down shirt or collared shirt in a color you enjoy wearing. We recommend pairing this with some nice chinos or khakis and/or some dark wash ( non-ripped ) denim. Pair with clean sneakers or dress shoes ( and don't forget your socks and a belt! ). This is a classic outfit that looks polished - without being too dressed up.

Feel free to bring a few options of shirts when choosing this look - we can help pick a color that is best suited to the location and backdrops. Be sure you have ironed and/or steamed your shirts in advance and hang them up to transport to your photoshoot. Bringing a jacket or sweater to put over is a nice touch to add some more variety without having to completely change your whole outfit.

a sweater
A nice lightweight sweater is another option - pair with some chinos or jeans ( again try to avoid anything with rips and/or stains ) for a classic look. Looking sharp in your senior photos will make mom happy!

You can pick a sweater that goes nicely over your button-down ( above ) or wear a sweater on it's own ( below ). We always recommend trying things on together before the day of your session to make sure there aren't any holes or stains, and that the sweater fits well with your shirt, or works with the pants you have chosen.
A nice pair of leather ( or clean! ) sneakers round out the look.

An instrument or prop
Bringing something meaningful to you like an instrument or prop can add a creative touch to your senior portraits. Try pairing it withing something casual like a tee-shirt and pants, or with a shirt + tie.

We love to capture you in your element - and props can help you relax at your session by giving you something to do while posing. It's a fun way to bring your passions to life while creating memorable photos of your senior year!

bringing it all together
When putting your outfits together; whether you are going to be wearing just two for a MODERN session, or 3+ for our ULTIMATE - think of how they will all look cohesively together in your gallery or home. We always suggest sticking to a color palette or vibe that suits your personality - and if you aren't sure which colors to wear, a simple black & white color palette is always going to look great.
We suggest thinking about two things when choosing your outfits -
- Wear what you will WANT to see yourself sharing online and with family. Wear your favorite outfits and what you are most comfortable in, otherwise if you don't feel like your best self, it will show. We want you to feel comfortable, radiant and happy!
- Stick to a theme or vibe that is uniquely you - and we will also plan a location suited to your outfits. If you want to go all out on the suits and more dressed up looks, we might stick to our more urban locations, however casual outfits can look good whether you are at a park or something more industrial. We are happy to offer advice on the location that would be best suited to your needs, just ask!

Bringing your dog is always welcome!
We recommend bringing mom or a friend to help keep track of your pup during your session so that you aren't worried or distracted about them for the remainder of the photoshoot.

quick tips & tricks
- Be sure all your clothing items have been ironed or steamed to remove any excess wrinkles. We recommend hanging everything up before your session and bringing with you in the car - either neatly laid out, or still on the hangers to keep everything organized and wrinkle free!
- Make sure you have tried on your outfits before your session to ensure everything fits how you would like - and looks good together.
- Don’t forget socks to wear with your shoes - and any accessories you might need for your outfits, whether it is a belt, jacket, hat and/or jewelry
