Senior Portraits at Discovery Park is the most classic PNW location you can find. From gorgeous tall grass fields, to giant evergreen trees - it's beautiful in different ways year round. In late summer and early fall the grass has turned to a dusty wheat color, the sun is a little lower in the sky, and you can find opportunities to capture stunning portraits in every corner. There are even a few secret spots, from a sandy beach overlook, to cute little brick walls and old yellow military buildings. iykyk.
these photos of Hazel were taken in mid-June, while the grass is still a bit green and only just starting to turn golden. It was a gorgeous sunny day - not too hot - and a slight breeze which makes for stunning movement.
I hope you enjoy this session as much as I do!
Hazel chose our MODERN session, which is an hour-long photoshoot at one of 5 pre-selected locations. Each location offered with our MODERN session has been chosen for it's photographic ability and demand from our clients. We want to make sure our sessions stand the test of time.
Our MODERN sessions include 2 outfits - and based on Hazel's preference for a long dress and maxi skirt outfit, the beautiful forest path and wide open field were the perfect backdrop.
Hazel brought this darling summer maxi dress with white heels - and I wanted to be sure I captured a few head-to-toe looks so we could see the shoes. I chose to start at this part of the park which has a gravel path so she could walk through the trees! I also love the way the sun filters through this area and the wind made for some extra fun moments. Look at that gorgeous smile!
For her second outfit, Hazel brought a maxi skirt and tank. I am so happy to see more chocolate brown and burgundy outfits make their way into sessions this year. The ode to the 90s has been strong and I'm loving in!
The open field with the sun starting to set gave off the perfect golden glow. It was the perfect spot for a long maxi skirt outfit. I directed Hazel to walk through the grass, play with her hair and laugh off into the distance.
This group of photos turned out so lovely!
The best part of this session was chatting with Hazel about how she wants to be a neurosurgeon. We talked about leaving for college, summer plans, and she asked me the most thoughtful questions about my job and how I am able to make people feel comfortable on camera. I think my superpower is being able to read people very well and adjust my session based on their energy and vibe.
If you're wanting a quick and fun hour long session with me - without sacrificing on quality, the MODERN was made just for you. You'll have the option to choose one of five locations, wear two outfits, and receive 15 digital photos ( perfect for printing, sharing and using for the Yearbook )
